Greetings from God's country! We live in Collbran, Colorado. We raise Spanish/Boer meat goats and some dairy goats plus we have Llama's and 3 cows with our main dairy cow getting ready to calve. We currently have 130+ goats, 7 Llama's and 3 Great Pyrenees/Maremma Livestock Guardian Dogs, 1 Border Collie/Corgie mix herd dog and 1 blue healer mix herding dog. We raise, breed, and sell percentage Spanish, and percentage Boer Goats. We are Fletch & T (Teresa) Fletcher. My husband started raising Boer goats in 2006 then I came into the picture in the fall of 2010. We have traditional, paints, colored, spots and dapples. We have never shown our goats, we just like to raise them and sell them for meat. We sell our young wethers (boys) to the local kids in the 4-H.
We grow, cut, bale and stack our own mountain hay for our critters. We don't use growth hormones of any kind on our goats, Llamas or dogs.
We finished our 2015 kidding season at the end of May. This past kidding season brought with it some wonderful babies but also some hard births and a few losses as well. We currently have 2 full blooded Boer Bucks that are huge and they sired some hefty babies this past season....We also had a record with twins being born as well as 3 sets of triplets....We started our kidding season in Mid January and had 42 mama's with 68 babies in a two week period...Let me just say there were some nights I just sat down and cried I was so exhausted from trying to keep up with kids being dropped out in the cold, moving mama's & kids from stalls to the community room and mucking/restocking the stalls, I was SO glad when we got our break...Then kidding started again in April and finished in May .. :D :D
We had originally planned on increasing our herd to 200 but our acreage just won't support that many goats and keep them all healthy as well. We are downsizing this summer by half of what we currently have with hopes that our quality will be much better.
